NC ALTA. IDEAL TECH

 

NC ALTA has the long term objective of obtaining state and other funding to support a North Carolina IDEAL Tech Center. The Center would leverage funds to spur growth of North Carolina’s IDEAL Tech industry creating high-paying, high-tech jobs and enhancing revenues. The Center’s programs would include:

  • Science & Technology Grants
    • Institutional development grants (for equipment)
    • Faculty Recruitment grants
    • Collaborative Business/Academic matching grant to train students interning on research projects
    • Multi-disciplinary team research grants (filling the void between academic research and STTR/SBIRs, which would be the next step)
    • Special Event Sponsorships
  • Business & Technology Development Programs;
    • Loan Programs
      • Business Development Loans (early stage, up to $25K, matched by company)
      • SBIR Bridge Loans
      • Research Loans
    • Business education programs;
      • How to setup and manage a business/academic research partnership
      • How to streamline distribution/reach your market
    • Incubator Lab
      • Site & equipment provided
      • Companies sponsor student interns to work on their projects
    • Meetings and networking opportunities
    • A resource library dedicated to IDEAL Tech literature-to assist people developing grants and proposals
  • Education & Training Programs
    • Incubator Lab
      • Site & equipment provided
      • Companies sponsor student interns to work on their projects Teacher Preparation (Small Grants)
    • Pay for teacher training/summits
      • support for teachers to develop their own courses
    • Education Grants
      • Institutional program development grants
        • Setup labs
        • Develop curricula for programs
      • Mini Grants
        • For schools, museums, other not-for-profits to educate k-12
    • Create and maintain an online resource library as NC’s central repository for information on best practices in Serious Games
